The MUD we always wanted to play Frequently Asked QuestionsPlayers often have questions regarding aspects of the game. Some of these may be answerable by use of help files, but on occasion it may not be immediately obvious where to find the answer and as such people keep asking them. This page will act as a place where such questions are gathered together. If you have a question (and perhaps an answer) that you think this page would benefit from, then send an email to the following address:
How do I use a key to unlock a door? You need to HOLD it first. Once you are holding a key (yes, this does mean if you are holding anything else you need to stop), you can use the UNLOCK command. UNLOCK can be followed either by a word representing what you are trying to open (door, gate, trapdoor, etc) or a direction (north, south, etc). I try to cast a spell on myself, and it say I'm already affected by it, but it's not listed in AFFECTS. What's wrong? You are probably standing in a room that has the spell permanently affecting it. Healer rooms may have a state of permanent sanctuary or regeneration. If you are in the area of effect of such a spell, you will not be able to cast it on yourself. How do I add colour (color) to my text? To switch from the default colour, enter a { (left curly bracket) character followed by a letter of the alphabet as listed when typing COLOR LIST in the game. This can be done at any point during a line of text, allowing you to switch colours multiple times in one line. Upper case letters are bold versions of their lower case equivalents, though their exact appearance depends on your MUD client. As an example, {r can be used to have all subsequent text (on that line) in non-bold red. Take care when changing colour mid-sentence that you don't have a space before and after the colour code, or you will end up with two spaces displayed on the screen. Type {{ to insert a curly bracket into your text. I want a ~ (tilde) character in my title / a note / somewhere else that'll be saved onto the server somewhere. How can I do this? In short, you can't. The tilde character is use by the system and any instances of it will be replaced by a plain - (hyphen) character. |
